  1. Aden, mentioned in the bible, has been a trading port for over
  2. 2,000 years.  British rule began in 1839.  A war for independence
  3. began in 1963.  Independence was granted on November 30, 1969 and
  4. complete nationalization of the economy and society occurred. 
  5. The new government broke off relations with the United States. 
  6. Yemen has aided guerrillas in Oman and in 1972 to 1973 engaged in
  7. boarder skirmishes with North Yemen.  War broke out on February
  8. 24, 1979.                    @
